Fire Your Linktree: Your Bio Link Deserves Your Own Domain

What if the "free" link tool everyone swears by is quietly costing you traffic?

Before creating my links page, I used to change the url in my bio every time I had a new link for my viewers to visit. Then I came across ItsMyUrls and LinkTree. They're both sites that allows you to put a ton of links all in one place, making what seemed like a perfect solution to the one-link Instagram struggle. Everyone was (and is) still using them religiously. I faithfully used ItsMyUrls for months and even became a verified member… until one day I realized that this wasn’t actually helping my site grow.

So, I decided to quit using ItsMyURLs and create my own branded links page.

Why I Walked Away From the "Easy" Solution

I once thought it was great to have just one link on my page that led to all my other links. But what I didn't like was how very little customizing I was able to do without paying some upgrade fee and how generic the URL was looking on my page (itsmyuls.com/sincerelyisyss). I wanted my brand completely throughout my profiles so I decided to make my own version of Linktree/ItsMyUrls. I decided to make a brand new page on my site just for the links I’d be promoting on Instagram (www.sincerelyisyss.com).

And guess what? I have seen my blog’s traffic from Instagram increase just about 50% after implementing this change! And it keeps on going up!

The Page Views You're Giving Away

While Linktree and ItsMyURLs is a pretty quick and easy “solution” to get all of your links out, you’re actually losing potential page views by using them. By making your own links page directly on your personal blog, you’ll be getting ALL of the page views that Instagram is actually bringing to your site. Even if one of your links on your page is going somewhere else, at least you’re getting the ALL the proper traffic beforehand. This is especially important if you use analytics to track your traffic and adjust campaigns.

Think about it this way: every tap on your bio link is a visitor you worked for. You made the reel. You wrote the caption. You answered the comments. Sending that visitor to somebody else's domain first means somebody else's site gets credited with the visit, and your own numbers stay flat no matter how hard you post. When the landing page lives on your domain, that traffic belongs to you, and so does the data you use to decide what to make next.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN CUSTOMIZED LINKS PAGE:

The short version of what I did: I built a brand new page on my own website dedicated to nothing but the links I promote on Instagram. Same fonts, same colors, same brand feeling as the rest of my site, no upgrade fee to unlock the styling I already owned, and a clean URL on my own domain instead of a generic one. Then I dropped that single link in my bio and let my analytics tell me what was working.
